Additional cases are every case filed against a person after their first case in this data (153,503 in all). They are cases filed, not proven crimes, and charges are not convictions. Estimated booking cost multiplies total cases by $194 per booking, a July 2011 City Peak Performance estimate that the Denver Auditor’s 2015 jail operations audit applied to 2014 bookings. It assumes one booking per case, is not adjusted for inflation, and leaves out jail days, court, prosecution and defense costs, so real costs are higher. Aggregate counts only; no individual is identified in this table.
